  •  Oh okay. Here's a clue: electoral choices (6+ / 0-)

and rape culture have nothing to do with each other. Seriously, this is your response to a horrific rape? You are worried about Ohio's reputation? That's just incomprehensible to me.

    •  And you took electoral choices from it? (1+ / 0-)

No, I was offended that the diarist chose to insult everyone in my home state.

She put it out there and it was wrong.

Is it as heinous as the rape and the disgusting individuals who committed it and covered it up?  HELL NO!

But WHERE it happened isn't as important THAT it happened, so yes, I'm offended.

I knew about this rape three days ago before people here picked up on it.  My jaw was agape in absolute disbelief.  The difference here? Living here, I have perspective.  I know the area. I know the type of people there and I know the importance of that football team.

And I'm ALL FOR LEVYING punishment against THAT football program.  But common sense dictates that you don't cut off the damn head when it's another part of the body that's ailing.

So by all means, Samantha go comprehend elsewhere along with your righteous indignation.

I sure didn't get that from the diary, about the diarist blaming everyone in OH.

But the community standing behind these two rapist shitpiles?  Goddamn right that community needs to be insulted!  No doubt many in it are speakup up, and good for them.  But the community as a whole needs to be called out for this abomination.

Minimum, and I mean fucking MINIMUM consequences, should be that the community gets no football for a generation.  Maybe the kids can learn something productive instead of the glory authoritarianism that masquerades as fucking football.

      •  Football teaches authoritarianism (6+ / 0-)

I love watching great athletes and plays but the bullshit it teaches in football culture towns is completely fucked up.

Schools need sports and exercise for all the students to promote physical well being but they don't need football.

        Body surfing teaches survival skills.

I'll take body surfing and individualism over football and authoritarianism and bullshit macho culture any day.

        You're right about one thing.

This isn't about any one state.

This is about a state of mind.

Don't make excuses for rapists and a sick fuck high school football town that enables rape.

look for my eSci diary series Thursday evening.
