  •  Oregon Medical Insurance Pool == $0 (9+ / 0-)

    My insurance is a state sponsored plan for those who are unable to get private insurance. They see the advantage of prevention. I have a $1000 deductible for prescriptions and 30% co-pay on some vaccines like the one for shingles, but this insurance pays for pertussis.  I assume it is because they end up ahead if we don't get sick.

    •  I hope my state insurance does the same. (2+ / 0-)

      It did cover most of my zoster vaccine. I'd heard the cost would be anywhere from $150 - 200 (and these quotes were ones I got from my doctor's office -- admittedly, they said, they didn't really know). Medicare didn't cover it, but my state retiree plan did. I had to pay only $50, which at one time I would have thought was a large sum for an injection.

      Being the single intellectual in a village of 1,100 souls ain't much fun, especially when 1,099 of those don't think you're all that smart.--Lucy Marsden
