    to the Senate. However, the election did not really change the fact that the House is ruled by the Repubs.

    I agree on the need for more progressive changes. But I really do not see how increasing the estate tax exemption to $5 million helps fairness. Even with a higher percent this new deals favors the rich with big estates.

    War is costly. Peace is priceless!

      to lower the exemption to the $3,500,000 that the Democrats wanted, or, better still, the $1,000,000 it was before the Bush tax cuts.  But it is also important to get a lot of money from the really big estates - the Waltons and Kochs of the world.  Actually, I don't know who leaves estates between $1,000,000 and $15,000,000 - it would be interesting to know if they are very successful professionals (doctors, lawyers) or mainly financial types.
