  •  Hopefully DK5 will remedy this God-awful rule (8+ / 0-)

Lifting the one-a-day limit on diaries was a colossal mistake imho.

Oh, and Diarist?  Take VCLib's good advice.  You'll thank him for it down the road.

    •  Especially for Newbies. (5+ / 0-)

This guy got something like 29 HR's in his Tip Jar in his second diary, and even that wasn't enough to autoban him. How can this site exist, with so many eyeballs reading the diaries, and zero protection against an unknown coming in and posting 5 ramblings a day? It is insane, and unpleasant.

      •  It is nowhere near as bad as it was in 2004 when (1+ / 0-)

we had lots of real strange diaries, flame wars, giant pie fights and so forth. It is pretty name now in comparison.

years ago, the memories fade and so what is happening today appears much worse. Also, in 2004 we were still a small site. Today, if you want to broadcast something to ~50,000 people, you can wander over to DKos, sign up, and 24 hours later start posting endless stupid diaries and unless all of them are incredibly offensive, you won't garner enough HR's to be banned for quite a while. The policy is out of sync with what the site has become. This diarist is an excellent case in point.

    •  paulitics - I too wish the one diary per day limit (2+ / 0-)

was still in place, but surely it could be a rule for rookies at least.
