    In agreement, I think.  Because I have such fond memories of discovering that book when I was a sophomore in high school,  and,  think I do not want the memory shattered.

    Interesting reactions to Joyce Carol Oates in the comments above.  I think of her as a modern day Dickens:  prolific, gritty realism, sometimes gothic,  occasionally too wordy, and sometimes misses the mark.  But when she is on, such as in Them, her writing can be thrilling.
