at a Baltimore college, he worked on his campaign for state legislature.  He spent time at Harris' home, talking politics while Harris did the dishes or changed his kids' diapers.  My son admired him as a doctor, and a decent man who wanted to change things.  He is aghast--and disgusted--to see that he's gone 100% over to the blind, obstructionist crowd.

There is sometimes a great disconnect between what a state-level politician says/does in session, and what they are like in everyday life.  The information I've gotten has come from long-time political observers of the state region.  Apparently there is one state senator in the general area who had real difficulties with Harris over transportation issues.  And they are in the same party.
