  •  In my non-legal mind I'd say the interval (3+ / 0-)

in time is to great to make a connection to murder. If she did it the week before then maybe.  Still no sure unless she knew or should have reasonably known he was going to commit a crime. Sounds like she clearly committed a crime with the straw man purchase. Not only the lying on the form but buying for another person she did know was a felon and knew he couldn't have a firearm.

Guns don't kill people...people with GUNS kill people.

    •  bottom line for the gun owner is that you don't (8+ / 0-)

buy a gun for someone else; if you are buying it for someone, take them into the gun store and buy it for them with your cash.  Not as exciting as Christmas morning under the tree but still good advice to make sure you are not buying for someone banned from owning a gun

    •  That's probably what they're waiting for (1+ / 0-)

Whether there's enough evidence to suggest Nguyen reasonably should have known Spengler was going to commit a crime.  And if there is, I say nail her ass.

He has a history of violence: he killed before.  If she knew that (and it would be hard to imagine that she didn"t---the strawman purchase shows that she knew something) then she was facilitating a felon in an act a reasonable person could reasonably believe would occur, to wit, murder.

If I buy, at their request, a hypodermic for someone with a history of drug abuse, is it likely that they will use it for future drug abuse?  Fuck, yeah!

If I buy a gun for murderer at his request, is it likely they will use it to murder someone? FY!

This belongs in the group of "simple questions, simple answers".  As Garth said: sometimes it's just too easy.
