Washington State does not require training for open carry or concealed carry.

I obtained a Washington concealed carry permit for one reason only: remote back country hiking. It would have been legal to carry the handgun in a holster without the permit, but I preferred not to intimidate those I might pass along the trail.

Also - regarding "gun insurance". Maybe many states require liability insurance, but Washington State does not. It requires solid evidence of financial security.

That can be normal liability insurance, or something like $50,000 on deposit with the state, or a bond that guarantees payment of up to about $50,000 in the event of an accident related lawsuit judgement. For someone with an excellent credit record, the bond might cost $300-800 per year.
