that's not the most appetizing thing I've ever heard. I have heard of oyster stout, don't like the idea much, doesn't sound a bit better with this variation.

you actually brewed with a chicken? How was that?

After a few months in the bottle there is a tiny ring of fat in the neck at the liquid level. This is not an infection, but a sign of authenticity. The taste is smooth, a bit spicy, not obviously strong.  It is unique, not something I ever had in a commercial beer, though I never had an oyster stout.  It's something you would have to do yourself to experience. As with so many beers, we could talk all night, but you won't know until you taste it. You would never know it had fowl in it if I didn't tell you. I may yet do it again, as we have 65 chickens, and most of them are past laying age, but Mrs. Grainpaw is a vegetarian, and not that happy even about me eating eggs. So they have a great retirement plan. Like Social Security, the young ones pay for the old ones, but the program is in the hole. I think the same recipe could work with fish. Oh, I did it with deer once, too. An acquaintance hung a deer in my apple tree and played with it one evening and never came back for it, so I thought, if I have to mess with this thing, I'm taking it all the way. Deer Beer. Another flavor we miss in modern beer is leather. I'm sure there were leather containers and mugs used before things got modernized.
