I wrote a small percentage of my comments in my first couple of years as a member.  I was really nervous about actually speaking up.  I had lurked for about two years before signing up.  I am still not sure why I originally did, maybe just to rec comments.  But do to all the attacking I saw, I was just terrified to write anything for fear of being attacked.

Then in 2008, I just stopped coming for awhile.

Somehow I found my way back.  I ended up finding TC through a sordid affair that happened on Dkos and now here I am.  Enthusiastic and eager to participate.

I must end each day with a dose of Top Comments. A TC diary is a must for developing the calmness I need to get the required eight hours of sleep. - cohenzee

in February 2005, Jeff Gannon had just been outed and the community was a lot smaller (and the rating scale was 0-5).  But yeah, I too did the sabbatical/hiatus thing for a couple of years before coming back.  I'd just gotten completely burned out on politics.

I don't mind getting attacked.  The last time I was really attacked by somebody was for posting a diary saying Republicans weren't actually Nazi's.  That was fun.  The guy just would not let go.

      I got a t-shirt (-6.88, -6.15)

I just don't online for some reason.  Off-line I do, but not online.

I was a member for the tail end of the 0-5 rating days.  I still like that so much more than the tipping system we have now.  I would probably read a lot more comments with a rating system than I do currently.
