  •  Hmmm. I like it in here. (7+ / 0-)

Nice decor. Great ambience. Cool crowd. You do this every Monday night? Cool.

I used to be bluesdjxxi. I was a parttime dj on an AM blues show "The Blues Spectrum", but I'm no expert or historian. It aired from 11pm til 5am Sundays through Friday. (Saturday nights were for Jazz.) I loved the job cuz I love the music, playing everything from Bessie Smith to Jonny Lang, Joe Williams to The Allman Bros, that version of Redhouse from Hendrix' In the West album...

Bounced for sattelite-fed NPR programming. I loved it while it lasted. I'm still a blues dj at heart.

Too late to the party tonight, gotta crash, but I shall return.

    G'night, everybody.

I am a huge Crack the Sky fan. One of my classmates in the Navy lived in, I believe it's called, Cherry Park. He would tell me of the jazz clubs he frequented.

He had been a PoliSci student at John Hopkins U. When Reagan was elected, he talked his way into a general discharge. He made the case that Reagan was not friendly to people of color, so he could not in good conscience be true to the vow he'd made for Carter- that he would lay his life down in defense of his president. He cited various pieces of Reagan's California legislation including a law that built a loophole for real estate professionals to practice segregation of neighborhoods.

He was a good friend. I'd like to find him some day.
