He was sick and they decided to euthanize him the week before the election. Here's a touching story about it, and another.

Almost like President Obama's grandmother dying just before the election.

And how sick some of the comments are from the Globe.  Shutter to think how bad the ones were which were deleted, by the ones which were left up.

They have gone behind a paywall now, and I can't check them like I used to.  Already pay for the NYT & the local daily (not worth much, but necessary for local stuff).

Otis looked like a giant version of our cocker, Clem, who was rescued from being dumped at a strip plaza, 8 yrs ago.  He's probably abt 15-16.

Maybe after things have settled down, they will be able to get another dog.  Till then I'm sure there is a ghost in the house.

The Globe article didn't run for a month after he died. I had no idea and was very saddened to read that news.

The Globe comments, though not as bad as the Herald, are pretty vile. There seem to be a lot of nasty right-wingers who spend their days posting that kind of trash on the Globe website. I don't even look at them anymore.

seems to be an obsession to prove how stupid and mean so many of the Fundy Tea Partiers are.  Upstate NY is full of it.

Rush, Coulter, Beck, O'Liely, Bolton, local AM radio shock jocks, etc.  trained them well.

Again, thanks for the info.  So glad EW is now a Senator.  Maybe our modest contribution helped a bit.

I always shake my head. I don't understand the nastiness in any event, but especially from that side. I always want to say to them, "YOU'RE WINNING. Why are you so mad?" When you look at our budget and what's possible politically today compared to 1970 or so, the shift rightward is undeniable. They've lost some elections, but they had a big enough win in 2010 to mess things up for a decade.

On social issues, though, I suppose they're losing big. And I guess a lot of these people are enraged that the world they thought they knew is fading away.

            •  "you're winning" ??? (0+ / 0-)

All of the above keep telling them they are not.

And it's never enough.  Gotta keep 'em riled up and angry!

Here we are celebrating that a skin biopsy taken from Mr P 12/31 is benign, so it's a good day, and we are not angry.  WHEW!!!

See that the NHL hockey dispute has been settled.

Maybe some of the RWers who glory in gore, will have their sport of choice to take out their aggression.

In our family we have an active user of ice rinks - a curler - LOL!

I'm a former hockey player. Although the hockey players in the NHL are very well paid, the average career lasts only a few years. The NHL lockout is a version of the same old story about the boss squeezing the workers we've seen across the economy.

Last time the owners shut down the league, eight years ago, they forced the players to take a pay cut of almost 25%. This time they dropped the players' share of league revenues from 57% to 50%. Just because they knew the players, who don't get paid if the league is shut down, would blink first. Greedy bums.

I'm very happy to hear it was benign! That's a great start to the new year!

clarified with " RWers who glory in gore".

If hockey is played cleanly I have no problem.  It's a great outlet.  One of my favorite med students chose the med school where I used to work, because it was in upstate NY and near places where he could play hockey.  He said it was a great outlet for med school tension.

On the other hand, an endodontist I just had to consult with because a root canal done 40 yrs ago (after a bicycle fall at the corner of Vine & North) has gone bad, sez upstate hockey and skateboarding keep him in business.
