    as the fifth Most Powerful Person in the World. Surely no one believes that a billion Catholics worldwide are not using birth control and hate gays.

      having left the Church when I was about 12 in 1967 or so.  I think his "power" comes from the extent that Catholics follow him on doctrine, but of course, not all Catholics follow all rules.   I find the doctrines of the Chriuch fundamentally misogynist, and anti GLBT.

        falling everywhere but Africa. More and more nations around the world - majority Catholic or otherwise - are legalizing adoption and same-sex marriage. Even if what you say is true, do you seriously believe Forbes would base its selection on that criteria?
