    Afghanistan or Iraq or any of the other countries it is now deeply embedded in. How many have died and what has been the cost of the US's  global fight against a few thousand of these jihadists?

    disassociating themselves from jihadist politics and stating that the jihadists will be dealt with once the fight against Asad is won
    If 2,000 can keep the US with the worlds most advanced and powerful military at bay for over a decade, what do you think they can do in Syria? We've already seen many unaffiliated groups join forces with them.
    Jabhat al-Nusra has been forced into compromises in many situations where it has tried to beat the jihadist drum;
    They are trying not to make the same mistakes they did in Iraq.

    It's roots were Egypt and Saudi Arabia and, arguably, the US.
