Filing ends today, candidates who have jumped in (but the lists will be thinned by challenges):

    filed Thursday:

Democrats: Ald. Anthony Beale of Chicago, Clifford J. Eagleton of Harvey, State Senator Napoleon Harris of Flossmoor, Gregory Haynes of Lynwood, State Senator Toi Hutchinson of Olympia Fields, Victor Jonathan (formerly Victor Onafuye) of County Club Hills, St. Rep. Robin Kelly of Matteson, Mel "Mr." Reynolds of Dolton,

filed Friday: Democrat Charles Rayburn of Dolton

    filed today:

Democrats: John Blyth of Chicago, Ernest B. Fenton of Markham, Anthony W. Williams of Dolton

Republicans: Lenny McAllister of Maywood, Paul McKinley of Chicago, Beverly E. Reid of Chicago, James H. Taylor Sr of Bradley, Eric M. Wallace of Flossmoor

Halvorson hasn't filed yet and will presumably file later today.

in Illinois, all candidate filings are presumed valid until shown otherwise. Hence some candidates will find proxies to challenge the petitions of other candidates or challenge the petitions of random dudes.

In IL5 in 2009, 15 Democrats filed and 12 made it to the ballot [One removed, Two withdrew]. 6 Republicans and 5 Greens also ran.

4 Chicago or state elected officials, not bad. Not up on Chicago politics, but is one of these 4 the favorite?

Beale, Debbie Halvorson, Harris, Hutchinson and Kelly

Might take a few moments to figure out which of the 5 is the favorite.

With Halvorson the dark house depending on how fractured the AA vote becomes.
