      •  If these things aren't included, then why (3+ / 0-)

did we get asked about them?

Late last month, Charles and I had our fifth and last quarterly interview with a woman from the Census Bureau. Our address was selected in 2011 to be part of the Consumer Price Index survey for 2012. By the way, we were not given the choice to opt out; if you are selected, you have to do it, the same as the Ag Census (only the latter is annual and everyone has to fill it out).

We were asked about our spending for each quarter in multiple categories, food and fuel among them. If the government is collecting data from everyone involved in the CPI Survey about these things, then why aren't they included? They ask about transportation as well as fuel, by the way, so public transit or paratransit gets included, not just gasoline for cars.

I wonder if I ought to write a diary about being in the CPI Survey, or the Ag Census, for that matter.

Why are war casualty counts "American troops" and "others" but never "human beings"?
