I suppose if I said I want to "fight" the tactics of the NRA you'd accuse me of making personal threats.

      It's very specific language.

      "Bury them." "Take them out."

There are very specific dog whistles the right wing uses that imply violence. We need to stop the NRA, but it's important not to use violent rhetoric.

People on this website have been very highly critical of the right wing for using violent rhetoric. There's a pretty clear line which shouldn't be crossed.

And yeah, I know that "Violent Rhetoric" might soun pretty subjective, but I tend to use the same standard that Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart used to define obscenity in Jacobellis v. Ohio, and I think that even according to that standard the line is pretty clear.

And I'm not doing anything dramatic like hide-rating this diary. Hell, I agree with everything that the diarist says, but I think this kind of rhetoric is unhealthy for our nation, and I intend to call out people who use it, even when I enthusiastically agree with them, like I agree with the diarist.
