    were women who choose otherwise somehow condemned in this letter?  I don't see that they are.  

    It just doesn't seem to be a strong argument that recognition for living up to a stated virtue means condemnation of not living up to it.  It's really only misogyny if you condemn someone, not exalt someone.  More information is needed if that's your argument.

      all mothers of priests would want to be subservient to and in a way "secondclass" to their sons. The presumption that mothers would be honored to offer their lives to their son's ministry is misogyny. I guarantee you that no prelate would ever write such things about the fathers of priests.
