...and probably out of the realm of reality. But it's nice to dream!

that the GOP HOuse would impeach Obama if he tried either the 14th Amendment or the trillion dollar coin option.  Obama doesn't want to be impeached under any circumstances.

Therefore, it's either cave or try to win in the court of public opinion.  That last option is hard, and Obama has nothing personal to gain from such a fight.  I can't imagine his heart would be in it (kind of like Bush caved a little too easily on privatizing SS, because he wasn't running for re-election again).

I sense a cave coming on...

The president has been emphatic and unequivocal on this one. He's not parsing his language on it, and I think it's because he knows he's on solid ground, and the ground beneath the GOP is shaky.
They can't impeach a president on the grounds of disagreeing with him on a Constitutional issue. The best they could do is a Court challenge, and even that is dubious at best.

Yes, Bill Clinton was impeached frivolously and foolishly, but he had in fact perjured himself in Court, which also (legitimately) led to him being disbarred in Arkansas.

This isn't lying about a blowjob--or lying about a robbery. These are specific, enumerated powers granted by our Constitution to the current Chief Executive. Whoever it happens to be.

Can we just use our heads, where this discussion is concerned? There is no High Crime or Misdemeanor in existence here. There's not even anything Asshats (R) could invent to this end which would even come close to making "doing the job outlined by the governing document" an impeachable offense.

It is time to #Occupy Media.

      •  I don't think its up to Obama (0+ / 0-)

The GOP could decide that since they do not control the Senate there is no point in impeaching Obama.  In this case they won't impeach him no matter what he does.

Otherwise they will.  I really cannot see any reason why they wouldn't impeach Obama, they hate him even more than they did Clinton.

A Republican congress has faced a Democratic president three times in the past.  They impeached two of them, and I'll bet they wished they had impeached Truman while they had the chance--he might have lost in '48.
