  •  As much as I love Krugman's (6+ / 0-)

    basics ideas for economics and know he's absolutely right in his analysis, it bothers me a bit that he can throw out recommendations and zingers and never have to deal with the real world implementation of them.  Frankly, I don't think he wouldn't take the job because he feels he'd be terrible at it.  I think he doesn't have the balls to do it, knows how impossible it is, the enormous ethical conundrums that would be forced upon him, the attacks that would begin upon his character, and the terrible toll it would take on him.  

    Truth is a guy like Krugman is exactly who we need in a position like this because it just might open the eyes of the intelligentsia as to just how fucking hard it is to govern, that merely coming up with theories is just the first step, that even the most brilliant man would get stymied by the enormity of it all.
