    In the second line you said you wouldn't consider it censoring.  I'm saying that it is indeed censoring, but in the context of the military censorship doesn't really need much defense.

    There is truth on all sides. The question is how much.

      Although, I meant to imply that the military can essentially do what it likes, so "censorship" applies in the general sense, but they already limit what is available in terms of outside information and distractions, so it seemed more a policy matter for them than outright censorship, per se.

        There is still a certain amount of freedom of speech, even in the military, and they can't just ban stuff willy nilly.  But this seems pretty obvious, racist material and tattoos are explicitly prohibited.
