    It doesn't matter how far we've come, the holidays are that perfect combination of nostalgia and longing that always sets off a tailspin.  I "got lost" too. I found myself wishing my parents had never celebrated Christmas so I wouldn't have "good Christmases" to compare the present to.

    I feel for you and everyone else that had to wrestle with grief during the holidays.

    As of this morning November 7, 2012 the Includers are ascendant, and the Excluders are in the minority. [samsoneyes]

      my hope is that someday those memories will bring smiles instead of tears, but right now Xmas is really really hard for the exact reason you said:  mom used to do so much and make the holidays so wonderful.  i've lost that forever unless i learn to do it for myself, and so far I have not been motivated to do that.
