    like Stonewall and other actions -- but I think I see the diarist's point that much of the change in society's actions has been simply by ordinary people living their lives. I was brought up to believe that gays were "icky" -- then I became friends with Larry in college, the first person who ever "came out" to me, and Mike and Bill and a bunch of other wonderful men and women I worked with in Corporate America and Silly Con Valley, where they would talk about going out on the weekends with their partners the same way I talked about my various dates (and I envied their permanence, at least while I was still unattached).
