(by stubbornly refusing to raise the debt ceiling), then i say, let's not stand in their way.  the r's will be blamed for the resulting disaster & it will be the final nail in the party's coffin.

you can't negotiate with insanity & that's the rationale behind the r's position: insanity.  period.  they have this fantasy scenario that once the economy crashes, the country will implode & civil war will erupt (headlines being touted by fox noise right now on google news!) & the r's will have their long-awaited coup, blah, blah, blah -- & with all the righties heavily armed (thanks to the nra) the bad guys will win.

once retirees (raises hand) don't get their ss checks & the whole economy comes to a crashing halt, it's not going to be the d's who're blamed for it -- it's going to be the r's -- & i say good riddance to bad rubbish.  i'm tired of playing their game.

the Rs will get blamed by the kind of folks who elect representatives like this is if their trusted media outlets and entertainment figures TELL them to blame the Rs. Its all the "demoncraps" fault because they wouldn't come to a sensible compromise and throw their bodies in front of the economy before it could fall into the whole dug by the Rs.

Yes, most of the country will know exactly who is behind it, but there will always be-what is it figured? 24%-that group who knows otherwise. The true Patriots/Christians/Hard Working Americans <-----insert trademark thingie here.

It entertains us, but the sad reality is that these guys have sunk there teeth hard into local and state level power, and they will be verrrry difficult to dislodge. There is much damage they can do below the radar, and they bear watching.

eventually the republican party, per se, will cease to exist.  they might (probably) go by another name, but the gop is toast & the debt ceiling manufactured crisis is the final act of their obscene, delusional play.

i agree the media deserves much of the blame for taking the easy-way-out & not calling the r's on their obvious treason vis a vis the plan use economic terrorism to usurp a democratically elected govt, but where are the democratic party leaders -- or business leaders, for that matter -- who should be taking up the slack?  the money interests are going to take a royal beating if the r's do what they're threatening, & yet they're strangely silent.

the dnc/wh made a bad error when it chose to abandon howard dean's 50-state strategy, imo.  otherwise, the hardline righties wouldn't be so well-entrenched in the lower rungs of power that they are.

it will not be an easy fight, but the ones worth fighting rarely are.

Their goal is to 9/11 the United States as a functional nation-state.

That's always been the Tea Party/Ayn Rand Party's goal.
