    .....when it comes to global warming, though poultry is better than red meat or pork.

      The world would be much better off if Americans began substituting a significant portion of our meat to lamb or goat that is locally raised.

      Because animals can eat plants that we can't.  A cow can turn a field of grass into edible protein.  To get the same protien from that field in a human edible form requires plowing, fertilizing and harvesting crops from that field, which also takes energy.

      There are alwasy tradeoffs and meat portions should be small.  But grass fed cattle are not destroying the world.  7 Billion people are doing that.

        And the meat available to the vast majority of Americans is worse.  And grass fed cattle have their own environmental problems.  But the fact of the matter is that there is no path to a carbon neutral world that includes any significant amount meat consumption unless there is a drastic drop in the world population.

        The revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.
