  •  Last I read we are producing enough food (15+ / 0-)

globally to provide adequate nutrition for 9 billion people. Since we are at just over 6 billion and about a billion of them are malnourished, at least one third of what we produce is going to waste. And that's not counting the food that is bought, but not consumed before being sent to the dump.

So, why are some people being deprived of food? Because deprivation is a power play and because subjecting some people to deprivation is supposed to make the rest more compliant. I suspect that people who think in a linear fashion aren't clued into what I call "triangulation." Triangulation is the strategy utilized by the kidnapper and the terrorist. It involves harming or threatening harm to one person or entity in order to affect the behavior or another. That's where all our innocent victims come from. It's a particularly successful strategy because the individuals being attacked or deprived have no inkling about why they are targeted, or by whom. So, they are unlikely to retaliate. Which suits the triangulators just fine because, in addition to being mean, they are cowards.

Where we go wrong is in focusing on the victims. Sympathy, or even an occasional meal, does them no good. The deprivators have to be stopped.  And now that they are using money as a tool to deprive, that shouldn't be too hard. After all, the supply of money is infinite. We just have to redirect the flow, away from the deprivators and to those in need.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
