    about a man who was dying of cancer and the morphine he was getting in the hospital wasn't working any more

    his son managed to get him out of the hospital and onto heroin after a doctor friend told him it was 80,000 times (not sure of the figure) more potent than morphine

    the patient was able to live comfortably after that until the disease had progressed to oncoming death, and he dies with an overdose of the drug which helped his life continue and then helped it end

    by the way, there's a scene in which he learns that the man leaving the dealer's house was a nobel prize winner (evidently a regular customer)
