  •  Spending a dreary day (10+ / 0-)

digging through CDs that I've burnt miscellaneous globs of data onto. Thousands of old drawings in JPEG, GIFF and jolly Bitmaps ... and I'm not finding the pictures I wanted.

Now thinking I'll have to dig through the analog archives and see if I didn't save the originals.

I saw David Bowie in concert back during his Glass Spider tour I believe. Opening for Bowie was Ivan Král (link to video on YouTube that I won't embed here cuz I know some people, even progressive people, are scared by nipples) and I was so blown away upon first hearing Ivan's solo work<----official website (he used to play regularly with Patti Smith) that the Bowie portion of the show, other than the nifty stage set-up, has pretty much managed to have proven forgettable. It's in this fuzzy head of mine somewhere ...

Despite being upstaged by the opening band, Bowie has been one of my favorites since, since -- since before Star Wars.

Sigh, back to the salt mines ...

    •  The only time I saw Bowie (5+ / 0-)

was on the same tour, in Denver. The stage was a huge three-level thing, with dancers and musicians coming and going from different places. Often, Bowie was back in some corner where you could barely see him. He definietly was not hogging the limelight.

always been holding Socialist Duckstick??  Just noticed that now.

In the end these things matter most: How well did you love? How fully did you live? How deeply did you let go?

I pick up my old friend when I splash through the kiddie pool. I've got about a dozen variations to my little portrait at this point.

Those of us who are closest (like, butt-nibblin' close) to Socialist Duckstick are encouraged to refer to him more familiarly as simply "Kevin". I believe the 'Socialist' label is somewhat interchangeable with his other labels which include "Commie", "Secret-Muslim", "Lie-brul", "Fascist", "Pinko", "Wetback", "Apologist", "Scumsucker" and "Grand Moff".
