  •  Lauer points out that (6+ / 0-)

the lawyer's defense is that it was consensual, then shows that infamous photos, and says: "How do you coordinate this idea of consensual and unconscious?"

Anyway, there's no need to get into a big debate about the coverage, which is, after all, tangential to the main issues.

...really there to skewer the defense (or the prosecution). He's just there so both sides of the case can say their piece. All of the relevant info is going to come out at trial anyway; neither side is going to show too many of their cards.

    •  I think the coverage (11+ / 0-)

is the point of the diary.

The fact that these folks were allowed/invited to go on television and 'tell their side of the story', enables the culture that allows others to blame the victim.

I have not watched the video (this one, or the one from the night of the event), I am so angry, I cannot allow myself to watch either.

If these folks are allowed/encouraged/invited to speak in their defense, I think their should only be one question asked:

Why do you think that you should be allowed to defend yourself now, when you did nothing to defend the (literally) helpless female who was assaulted that night?

Women Act and failure of Congress to renew it. Wed. a.m. Jan 9th, 2013, first hour. I know this is "yesterday's" diary, but if anyone is following up. Her producers could only dig up Phillis Shaffley to speak on the other side, on need to delay and hold hearings and call it something else and encourage keeping a marriage together. But the rest of the discussion was to the point.
