    ...and travel to the tropics often.

    I've watched climate change occur right before my eyes in both places. Especially Alaska. I've watched the flora in Alaska change drastically, especially the various species of spruce trees, birch, and willow giving way to cottonwoods which are opportunistic and tough. Unfortunately, they can't feasibly be used as fuel. It's spongy, full of water, takes years to dry out (if it doesn't rot first) and doesn't burn well or give off much heat.

    Fauna which has historically never been usual to this area, like mountain lions and black tail deer are appearing more often.  The orcas have gone from Cook Inlet, or at least I haven't heard of them the past few years. The beluga whales, the sea lions.... going... going....
