  •  Good luck, elwior. (0+ / 0-)

You may want to check out The Great Disruption, in which Paul Gilding, ex-Executive Director of Greenpeace and Sustainability consultant to the Fortune 500, writes about how and when denial will be silenced and how the nation will mobilized into a war effort-like program to prevent disaster. (Yes, he's being optimistic...) I would guess it would provide some ideas...

love story (an astronomer and a woman from another planet), some psychology (my trade), some old time religion (the pure stuff), and underneath it all is the message about the destruction of the human habitat here on planet Earth.
My goal is to get it made into a movie, (and I do have a connection in that regard) because strangely enough, that is how to reach people better than anything else.

And BTW, thank you beach babe for all you do!

        •  I could send you a shorter (summary) version if (0+ / 0-)

          you wanted.

But hey, I've got a request of you. I wrote that diary yesterday about the link between tar sands and cancer as documented in Scientific American (most recently).
Sadly, the diary didn't quite make the rec list and that's too bad because this is a meme that needs to get out into the Public Square.
The Keystone XL pipeline, and other tar sands projects starting up, (in Utah, e.g.) may well turn out to be critical battles in the struggle to prevent the scenario presented in your diary yesterday.
The cancer link could be powerful as people more easily relate to that danger at present than they do to the more long-term threat of global climate change.
We think of children and adolescents as not thinking much about the future, but recent studies have shown adults aren't much different in that regard. Immediate scares people, long range, not so much.

What I hope you'd consider doing is writing another diary about that link, as you are a fairly well-known diarist here, and I'm more of a hit-and-miss kind of plebe.
I don't care about that, I just want these facts to get out.
