  •  My first computer was probably a TI-55 calculator (13+ / 0-)

    in the late 1970s.

Our first home computer was the 5150, also after experimenting with many variations of IBM Selectric typewriters and performing many, rather tedious sessions of ASCII art experimentation.

For a summer job, I programmed one of the early IBM XTs for a local engineering company - it eventually allowed for creation of CAD drawings using a locally grown catalog of basic shapes and I got it to interface with their flatbed printer by the end of the summer, being a Guy Friday most days by running errands and working up all of their status reports, correspondence, etc. after setting up a TRS-80 (i.e., "Trash 80") for all their word processing needs.
