obnoxious as hardcore evangelicals. They both demand that their belief is the only belief and everyone else is wrong.

    Same shit different toilet.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting ALL atheists are like this. I know a few that don't have their head up their butt.

But there are some really hardcore "Sky Fairy LOL!!!11!!" types are right up there with the Pat Robertsons of the world. Ironic, really, when you think about it.

As a matter of interest, I wish this stupid national prayer crap would just go away. Unless they plan on doing a Christian prayer AND a Wiccan circle AND at least one other or two religious ceremonies during the inauguration, it's a slap in the face of the entire country. Since they don't have time to perform 10 different religious ceremonies, they shouldn't do any at all. Much like one's own privates, divine worship--or lack thereof, in the case of agnostics and atheists--should be kept private. Nobody who truly, honestly, believes in God should care whether some politician or another is pandering to said God.

Pray in the privacy of your own home and keep your pants on when out in public.

It's what the divine powers prefer.

'the Pat Robertsons of the world,' you might not have atheists speaking out about it. Instead we have a society where indoctrination of children is perfectly normal, where religion is pandered to at almost every opportunity (see diary above for evidence), where the religious are permitted to turn their churches into political action committees that point and laugh at 'separation of church and state' from their pulpits, where skepticism and reason and science and evolution are attacked with boring regularity, where creationist Texans' backward and demonstrably false notions influence the textbooks of millions of students, where people are harassed and discriminated against and, occasionally, even killed for the sake of religion...

Wah. They both have some belief. They're both religions, somehow. They're both awful. A pox on both their houses.

When's the last time an atheist told someone who they couldn't marry because no-god told them to. Oh, you could probably find, maybe, one...I'm a skeptic, I can't rule it out.
