have been doing as a whole, but that doesn't mean that everyone in their clergy is in agreement - that's why I asked about this Bishop.  I used to know the son of one of the former Bishops years ago.  Nice people.

      of them are nice people.

True story: when I was sixteen I was a volunteer teacher at St. Edward the Martyr in Harlem. The diocese of New York gave me an apartment for free as a way to support the school. When I had my sixteenth birthday I threw a party at the apartment, which was in the same building with the bishop and several other people. We had a fine festive time, replete with sangria and face painting (hey, it was the sixties). The next morning I was heading off for home. I had left the face painting on my face because I thought my folks might enjoy it. There were several empty gallon jugs outside my apartment door, waiting for pick up. And the bishop walked out of his apartment, at the same moment. He took a look at my face, a glimpse at the wine bottles. I said, "Good morning, bishop!" He said, "Good morning!" And that was that.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? . . . and respect the dignity of every human being.
