    The position that "homosexuality is sin" is the mild end of a spectrum.  It's also still the belief of a majority of the world's Christians.

    I don't share this belief; I just think it should be held in context.  Believing something is "sin" is not the same thing as believing it should be criminalized.  Or fighting to have it criminalized.  Or fighting for the death penalty.  That's virulence.

    Merely saying something is a sin - especially 15 years ago - is pretty weak tea. An awful lot of Christians believe abortion is a sin, but still vote pro-Choice.  Many believe greed is a sin, but still vote Republican.

    Also, some people can actually learn things and change their views over the course of 15 years.  I feel the administration was a little too quick to dump their first pick, and they will have a hard time finding any member of the clergy who has never preached anything that offended anybody.
