  •  I remember thinking that my username (8+ / 0-)

would never move up from the bottom of the rec lists when they were all done by longevity.

I was posting at other opinion/discussion sites and followed a link here once about a year before I lurked for a while and then joined, but the first visit I couldn't figure out the whole diary and site format thing so I didn't stay until I came back after Kerry's loss.  By that time I had had enough of wingnut infiltration on mixed boards.

More: Some men think the Earth is round, others think it flat; it is a matter capable of question. But if it is flat, will the King's command make it round? And if it is round, will the King's command flatten it?

    •  When one of my diaries (8+ / 0-)

got promoted to Front Page last year, I just about, as Al Roker might say, "pooped my pants". :-)

I came here from a link somewhere else -- either Wil Wheaton's or Margaret Cho's blog. Maybe both, I can't say. But I came for the politics...and stayed for the community. You guys were with me when I was dealing with my mother's death in 2005, and again in 2010 when I was dealing with two ill parents-in-law and my father-in-law's eventual death (day before Keith Olbermann's dad died, oddly enough). You were all here for my spouse's cancer diagnosis...and when the urologist said that they got all of it in surgery. (He just had his latest CT scan, and other than some small gallstones and a couple of small hernias, he's good.) I hope to still be around when we see a return to political sanity in this country...then again, I'm a bit of an optimist.

how so many of us measure our lives today by our internet history.

And boy do I hope and pray for your ending comment:
