    •  How is it good??? n/t (0+ / 0-)

I screwed up with a careless uprate so I'm a "No Rate" pariah. When I give a comment "+1 n/t", please consider that a recommend. (That's my workaround to participate here). DK haiku, one complete thought in a title field. Roar louder! NR since 3/7/12.

    •  This would close the "gun show loophole" (5+ / 0-)

which was a misnomer. It was the private sale exception, of which gun shows were a subset.

All sales have to go through gun dealers and their check-out system and the 28 day delay.

      Their system works.

      Our system does not work.

from purchasing a gun? It seems reasonable to me. Anyone unsafe merely sitting on an airplane probably shouldn't own a gun, either. And, that giant database already exists. Why not use it?

I admit to being confused about the implementation of background checks with respect to mental illness.  Would psychiatrists and psychologists be required to report every client who consults with them? Would primary care physicians be required to report suspected mental illness? What about college professors? High school teachers? Sunday school teachers? Which mental illnesses would trigger mandatory reporting and by whom?

Could anyone with a gun to sell access mental health information about any and every potential buyer?

The no-fly list.  How many people arrested in Occupy camps are finding out they now have an FBI file, and may be considered possible terrorists?
