  •  The world needs more teachers like you :) (4+ / 0-)

I am a piano teacher and this is my goal as well: to get kids thinking, engaged and using their creative skills.

So many kids have been conditioned to expect spoonfeeding. The teacher says X, you repeat X on the next text. Simple.

My piano students know that I'm not interested in this sort of thing. I don't half so much care about whether they hit a wrong note, as their reasons for hitting the wrong note (were they not paying attention? genuinely confused? were they looking at the left hand and thinking right hand? and so on...)

Let's make 2013 the year we take back our planet.

We don't learn much by rote, save for vocabulary.
