But you might need insurance for when you lose control of the keep.

For instance, a shot gun was used to shoot up a school yesterday.  Under my interpretation of KEEP, you didn't keep your shot gun, you failed, oopsie, not my oopsie, your oopsie.

Failure to secure a deadly weapon
Accessory to assault with a deadly weapon
Accessory to assault with intent to murder
Personal liability for hospital bills, restitution, and rehabilitation.

Keep isn't there for decorative purposes.  Keep means keep.

Why do RkBRers always gladly forfeit their responsibility when the gun gets out of their control.  Why do I always have to pick up the pieces.  It's not my gun to control, it is the bearer's gun to control.

their arms safe, they suffer the legal penalty of liability.

If my car is taken by my child and used to kill someone, I am liable as the owner of the car.

In the case of a gun, if someone fails to secure their gun and it is used in a crime - liability insurance compensates the victim.

The owner of the gun faces increased insurance rates on their next gun because they failed to secure it properly.

should be civilly and criminally liable.

It's not the right to keep and bear carriages.  It's the right to keep and bear arms.

When it acts like a gun when the bearer loses control, it is the fault of the bearer, not me.  I can't control his gun.  Only he can control his gun.

        •  88 kathy - the civil liability is already in place (0+ / 0-)

If your gun is used to cause injury, death or property damage there is already civil liability attached to the owner. It will be difficult to pass a law attaching criminal liability because to prove someone guilty of a criminal act you have to show "intent". If a gun is lost, stolen, or used without permission there is no intent on the part of the owner.

          "let's talk about that"
