  •  I'm afraid so. But one never knows (4+ / 0-)

The WV GOP may well nominate a Todd Akin / Richard Mourdock who will say something so egregious that the Dem slips in.

Therefore, recruit and give the candidate enough support that they can keep it close.

Economics is a social *science*. Can we base future economic decisions on math?

There's still a fairly strong union culture in a lot of West Virginia.  If we can get past the social issues and get into the part

Blankenship is going to try to buy this seat.  If he puts a clumsy mining industry shill into the Republican nomination, we could get an upside surprise on the Democratic side.

challenger to Rockefeller, I'd say she's a lock for the seat now. She's very popular in her district, and has statewide name recognition as the daughter of a popular former GOP Governor. She's fairly moderate, but then so is Collins from ME, and she still votes pretty much lockstep with her more rabid colleagues.

David Koch, a teacher and a Tea Partier sit down a table with a plate of a dozen cookies. Koch quickly stuffs 11 cookies in his pockets, leans to the bagger and says "watch out, the union thug will try to steal your cookie".

Fairly moderate does not work as well the year that Obamacare takes full effect.
