    I don't want to pick nits, but:

    And why should this relationship not be called marriage -- a different kind of marriage, for sure, but a union that serves society's needs in practical and useful ways?
    There is nothing different about a same sex marriage and opposite sex marriage as far as society is concerned. Why is it for sure a different kind of marriage?

    I know I'm totally biased, and besides that I think it's a decent argument for the religious, but what is so different between the two other than tradition? Answer: nothing.

    Just two people trying to make a life together. It's not fundamentally different in any way.

    P.S. I am not a crackpot.
