Not really. Well maybe a little. They should have warned me about all the math. I thought it'd be more about memorizing stars.

• ##### Lots of geometry in astrology, no?(4+ / 0-)

What with charts and such. As for memorizing stars, that's what the Walk of Fame is for, no?

• ##### It was a lot of math...(4+ / 0-)

Advanced algebra and stuff. If this is the light spectrum from the star and you know the star has this mass and this hot, tell me how far away it is?

Or extrapolate how far away star A is by measuring how much it moves relative to star B and star C over three months...

I don't remember a lot of geometry, but I was good at geometry and that might have been the easy part of the class that I wasn't sweating.

• ##### If Star A weighs 3 times as much as Star B(4+ / 0-)

and Star B is composed of 2% helium, how many bananas will Star A have to consume before it turns into a black hole?

Jupiter can never ignite into a star, as it did in Arthur C. Clarke's book 2010.

My killjoy professor broke that news to me.

Not enough mass to spark nuclear fusion. Gravity will never get strong enough to push Hydrogen atoms close enough to fuse into Helium.

Unless of course magic monoliths come along.
