have immigrated but live very modest financial lives. Most of us did not immigrate because of finances or politics.

Many of us thought is was temporary until our "Anchor Babies" were born. ;-)

Some of us still cling to the possibilities that it is temporary!

The immigration for our spouses back to the USA is often much more difficult.

Another typical.... Came here for the romance and adventure. Stayed here for the children's health care.

This better be good. Because it is not going away.

    •  Speaking of those elect emigration to escape US (0+ / 0-)

I meant those who believe they can emigrate at will to another country permanently because they dislike the US president and his policies will find that emigration is hard, that countries have stringent criteria for permanent residency, and that often they require jobs, special skills, investment capital, and as for citizenship, that's even harder....I was not speaking of those who found themselves in a country and because life happens stays there,

I meant the guys described in these articles, not your dear Friend, cher Freund ;-)

"I'm moving to Australia, because their president is a Christian and actually supports what he says,'' she tweeted.
The dumbest tweeter in the world, says Australia

"Are you bluish? You don't look bluish," attributed to poet Roger Joseph McGough, for the Beatles' Yellow Submarine (1968).
