    Re: thyroid and radiation exposure.

    If you're going to have any x-rays (doctor or dentist), ask the tech to give you a protective collar to protect your thyroid. They all have them, as they come with the protective lead (I think it's lead) blanket. For six months after having a mammogram, my hair fell out. Not in clumps, but more than what is normal. Then I heard Dr. Oz suggest the collar. The next two years, I used the collar, and my hair didn't fall out. I should also say that I have no idea what the correlation is between the thyroid and hair, but damage to the thyroid can't be a good thing.
