  •  Our dog drove the cat nuts, when she was (7+ / 0-)

a kitten.  Bandit the dog was part dachshund and part (we think) border collie.   She looked like a border collie that someone had stretched longer and shortened the legs by a few inches.

We kept Gracie the cat in a wire cage the first few days until we were sure they'd get along.   Gracie would come out on her little wobbly kitten legs, and Bandit would nudge her as she walked until they'd circled back and Grace was facing back into the cage.  The cat would look and stop short, thinking "I don't want to go back in there!" and Bandit would just flip her over the threshold into the cage, looking up at us with an expression that said "Well?  Shut the door before she gets out again!"

She taught Gracie to go downstairs, tho.   She'd stand a step or two in front of her, waiting for her to make the next step, then retreat.

    •  This is adorable !! I used to have a cat (7+ / 0-)

that would alert me when my hamsters got out, so the other cat couldn't kill them first.

The same cat would protect my canary from the other cat.
She was kind of a cranky cat (she HATED the other cat his whole life) but she was very kind & gentle with little creatures.

Something that doesn't make good sense, makes bad sense. That means someone is being deliberately hurtful & selfish. Look for motives behind actions & words.
