I noticed that too. It's good to have a friend!

I'm planning to go to Netroots Nation this summer. There are a number of people I see come up over and over on my comments and diaries, and I'm hoping to see you all there. Maybe we can kick around ideas for moving forward on this and other issues.

plans to travel outside the country this Fall, I sort of doubt that my budget will allow me to participate in Netroots Nation this year.  I hope that you'll be willing to share your experience, though, with the rest of us.

I'm thinking that C-span TV has sometimes shown a portion of the annual Netroots Nation convention or forum.  I hope it's taped again this year.

In the meantime, I definitely look forward to "kibbitzing" with you here are DKos.  I am so impressed with the depth of knowledge that you (and some other bloggers here) possess.  I'm all about "learnin'."

BTW, would you happen to know if it is possible to change one's account "user name."  I have been considering using either my real name, or another user name that I blog under quite a bit.  Musiccitymollie was our Schnauzer's "registered name."  She came from Nashville, TN.  Hence the "music city" tag.

Anyway, my husband suggested that if I do plan to blog a bit more seriously, maybe I'd want to use a consistent user name, or real first name, or whatever.

I know that it's not your job to advise us thing kind of matter, LT, but it's clear that you are much involved and know this community very well.  I would want to transfer my few little diaries and comments, etc., to the account with my new user name.

Anyway, if you know the appropriate email address of the webmaster here, please point me in the right direction.  If it's not possible to do this--no biggie.

I'm not any major diarist anyway.  And, for obvious reasons, I'm quite fond of the name "Mollie," or I wouldn't have picked it in the first place.

Well, maybe some other time. You can send a message to my profile, if you like.

As for changing your name, I believe you can do that by looking under "Welcome Back..." on the right side of the page, where you should see "EDIT PROFILE". Click that.

Scroll down to the "Your Blog" section and change the "Blog name" field. It think this controls how you are listed.

I've seen others change their name. Some people add their RL name after the title they've been using.

I would, however, be careful about using your real name on the blog. Unless you are a public figure, where you probably want to promote your name, you might want a little anonymity. Otherwise, you are opening yourself up to online and possibly real-life attacks.

In any case, I'd be happy to hear messages from you (or anyone who's friendly!) Obviously, we have a lot of areas of agreement.

        •  Thank you for all that info. I'll give it a shot. (1+ / 0-)

I've been a 'lurker' far more years than a blogger, so really a user name hasn't been that important.

And I will take under consideration your point about the use of a real name (and no, I am certainly not a 'public figure.'  LOL!).

I'll probably mainly comment due to pretty heavy time constraints this year, so the matter of a user name is really pretty insignificant.

Certainly feel free to contact me should the situation arise.  I saw that you also diary quite prolifically, so I'm following you, so that I don't miss a post.  [I'm bad at doing that.  Seems like every time that I find a really good diary, it's a day or two late.]

Go for it.  It's great to see the case made "for real liberal policy solutions."
