  •  Practically, there already _is_ (6+ / 0-)

a Republican in the White House. There just happens to be a (D) next to his name. As stated by President Obama, on Univision, just last month, his policies line up with those of Reagan-era moderate Republicans.

I appreciate that Republicans nowadays make Mr. Obama look like a raging liberal. However, the simple fact is that, just a generation ago, someone putting forth the policies that the Obama Administration has (and will continue to put forth) would fit perfectly well in the Republican Party.

And you can disagree with what I've written here, but it doesn't change the fact that President Obama himself referred to his policies as "mainstream," "moderate Republican[ism]" from the 1980s barely a month ago.

right now is because of the failed electoral strategies of the left.

"progressives" have made it impossible for anyone more liberal than Obama to get elected, all the while complaining about the results of the strategies they have employed for 40+ years- rather then changing those strategies.

The problems in the Republican Party right now are the same... they make it impossible for anyone less right-wing than the Tea Party to get elected, but then complain that they're losing elections. Rather than looking at their internal issues (stances, strategy), they complain about - or don't believe - the results.

No, you can't fix stupid. You OUTNUMBER stupid. -Wildthumb, 1/10/2013
