  •  We're well under the poverty line (9+ / 0-)

though not as bad as we were before Dad was switched from disability to straight SSI under his father's benefits. I just figured it out... we get enough food stamps to cover 9 days a month at $5 a day per person. 9 days. I can usually get about 2 weeks out of it, though this month it was only 12, didn't make out as well on the sales. Everything went up a bit.

    •  And when I say well under.. (8+ / 0-)

I just did the math, and if my brain didn't switch anything around, the four of us (minus Caedy) bring in about 50% of poverty level. With Caedy if you count the five of us (and she's included on our food stamps so technically one would) we're about $4000 under poverty level. And they cut our food stamps back to $180 a month from $300 (and our initial was $409 before that). And that's being UNDER poverty level. Now granted, we only pay about $500 a month in lot rent but we pay all utilities and both Dad and Caedy have student loans they're supposed to be paying on and can't. But when Dad's SS went up by $400 they cut the food stamps almost in half. And in June, child support will stop because Draco will be 18, unless he still owes me back. He'll still have another year of high school though.
