    diabetic for over forty years and the best thing I ever did was to shift to a low carb diet which requires me to inject less insulin.

    I still love things like bread, pasta, and rice, but I try to limit the amounts as compared to before I was diagnosed.

    Ideally I'd totally eliminate all those high carb items from my diet, but it's really difficult to do. I can do it for a time, but I get these cravings for them.

    I'm pretty certain that I'd do best if I just stayed on the Atkins diet for the rest of my life. I lost a bunch of weight while on Atkins, but maintaining it over the long run isn't that easy.

    The only trouble with retirement is...I never get a day off!
