      them, I wonder?

If I had a lot of money, I would bring a portable farmer's market of produce to low-income area's twice a week, on regular day/nights, in a big semi or something.

Can't buy bananas when they are $1 each at the local gas station.

high security.  I suppose by being open to the public to a degree, including people.  Lately I've been watching a lot of documentaries on urban gardens, Edible City being my favorite.  In it, a women in an inner city got a grant to teach urban kids how to grow food.  They grow a lot and share it around.

        •  I've also heard they grow urban gardens at schools (2+ / 0-)

to teach kids where vegetables come from, teach them soil, etc., and have the kids take the produce home with a recipe.

I'll bet there's some organization that promotes this, I'll have to find it.

there seem to be a lot of them.  I love that Michelle Obama made gardening and produce a special project. :)

            •  Me, too! Love the White House garden, too. (2+ / 0-)

Unbelievable ... during a recession and while children have an obesity epidemic, the First Lady has children caring for a food garden and learning how to eat right and exercise - which is cause for rightwing hysteria.

              Unbelievable.
